World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The upgrade of an item allows players to boost the gear score of an item up to 700, and then add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory and heading to the kiln.
Certain items can be upgraded to increase their stats (like an ideally rolled breakpoint armour used in melee PvP) while others like weapons do not vary greatly post upgrade, and therefore aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to boost their numeric stats such as crit chance, attack damage, PvE and damage from PvP. Weapons come with a flat-rate bonus that increases damage per second. Many weapons also have a fixed bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are placed in a unit. In some cases this bonus could add up to more than the amount of damage a weapon upgrades on its own.
The cost of upgrading a weapon's capabilities is contingent on the rarity of the weapon and its current level. For example the weapon with a +2 rating will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while an upgrade of +3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a weapon will continue increase until it requires an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones, at which the amount will be reset to one.
Upgrading weapons will also reroll their base stats. While this is generally beneficial but it can also have negative consequences as well. Upgrades can make things unusable, unless you are extremely lucky.
The ability to upgrade armor items to improve their effectiveness. This will increase the base defense of a chest or helm as well as belts and gloves. These will increase their required strength and agility. Armor also has an option to reroll its Enhanced Defense percent, which means that it may roll back to a lower number.
The upgrade template of a weapon will show the new stats that it will gain after upgrading along with the relative value of those stats. This means that a weapon will gain 33% attack damage when it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. However, the 3% doesn't mean that it will hit for 3 times less often, since it is an absolute statistic.
Rerolling a weapon is also possible by pressing the green button within the item menu with the arrows that circle. This will roll the item and change its stats, but it won't reset the weapon's level or bind to account status.
Armor
A few tweaks to your armor can make huge differences in your ability to endure. item upgrades offer massive increases in poison or curse, fire, and magic resistance, which makes traversing tough areas a breeze. Generally speaking, the more defense your character has the more value you can get out of each point of health you possess and it's crucial to improve your armor as often as you can.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting any of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four of them and each one requires you to complete a specific side-quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. Once you've completed the main quest and the associated fountains, you'll be able to talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the armor upgrade menu.
The amount of materials required to upgrade each piece of armor will vary. You'll require anything from three Red Chuchu jelly and 10 Rupees to upgrade the initial armor piece, and between five Rubies or 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns to upgrade each subsequent one. The Champion Leathers, for example, can be upgraded to a +5 defense rating, which will allow you to keep up in frigid environments with a large number of adversaries. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other is able to be upgraded to +20 defense, which means you can survive a raid with friends.
Be aware that armor can't be upgraded in the same manner as weapons, so you'll have to work on upgrading it to gain physical strength if you're a Warrior or Spell Power in the case of Mage. It's also a good idea to save your armor upgrades for the armor you'll be wearing at the end of the game, like the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you'll wear to fight the final boss, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.
You can also unlock some benefits to your armor by presenting the jeweler at Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. You'll generally want to save these upgrades for the weapon that you'll use to beat the game. For instance the Longsword or Battleaxe. However, it's beneficial to have some upgrades to the helmets and chest armor to let you escape some monsters.
Potions
Potions are substances in bottles that, if consumed, give the player an effect on their status for a short period of time. There are five types of potions with different effects and durations. Some potions can be upgraded, enhancing their effectiveness. In addition the effects of certain potions can be enhanced by adding glowstone dust or redstone to them.
Upgrades to potion require a certain amount XP. This can be earned by making them on a craft table or by storing them in the Alchemist chest. However, the cost of upgrading changes depending on what type of potion you'd like to upgrade, and also on the item's Mark Level and rarity.
To upgrade a potion to the next level, right-click on it in your inventory and select the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This will open a GUI that allows you to select the potions that you would like to upgrade and the amount of experience they will give you when upgraded. Upgrades to potions can be made in batches of up to five at a single time, and the XP they earn will be added to your current XP level.
Once a poton is upgraded and stored, it will not degrade until you make use of it again or break the bottle within the container it is stored. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will also allow you to rename it.
There were some changes to potion mechanics in version 1.7.2. Splash potions for instance, now have a duration 0:08 instead of the 22.5 seconds that are displayed on the hover display for the item. The table for potion can now be crafted with four Wood Planks and two Glass. This allows it to be utilized by players in Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions are not compatible with cauldrons, unlike Java Edition. Additionally, using a potentio on a full cauldron drains the liquid and refills the bottle.
In addition, there are simmering potions made with dragon breath and splash potions. Similarly, a lingering potions can be enhanced by adding redstone. The potion table is now arranged more like the Java Edition, and new potions were added, such as the potion of leaping, the decomposition potion, and turtle master potions.
Trinkets
A trinket can be described as a small and affordable ornament or piece of jewelry. It could also be an ornament or object that serves a function but isn't essential, like a thimble. In some traditions, trinkets are used to symbolize affection or friendship, particularly between family members.
In addition to armor, weapons, and potions, players are able to upgrade their trinkets. Upgrades can be obtained by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. Trinkets, unlike other items that can be upgraded, can be swapped at will without losing statistics.
Upgrade vendors can be found at the capitals of every zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are bought with tokens, gold or fragments of rare trinkets.
Upgrades to trinkets are an economical alternative to buying an entirely new one. It is possible to upgrade the player for less than 12 tokens. The new trinket will feature the same base ilvl of the older one, and have an additional upgrade bonus of 1.
Once the old Trinkets have become no longer usable, they can be upgraded. This allows players to increase their power and value over time. They can be traded among players and are a viable alternative to gold.

In general, players should upgrade their highest priority items first. This usually means the best-in-slot items for their class, followed by their secondary items and finally, other gear items that they will not be replacing soon (for instance rings or cloaks). When choosing which items to upgrade players should be aware of the class's preferred stats. For example If Haste and Crit are the two most important stats for tanks, they should be focusing on upgrading their chest, helm shoulders, belt, and helm.
After they've become unusable trinkets can be upgraded to a higher level. The upgraded trinket will give you an additional 1percent bonus. However, a re-upgrade can ruin the previous trinket, unless it is saved using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or an additional salvage tool of higher quality. This means upgrading trinkets is more expensive than other upgrades, yet is still less expensive than buying the new one.
